Children, families, and adults face significant time, cost, and cultural barriers to accessing an autism diagnosis. Autism New Zealand works to help New Zealanders overcome these obstacles by providing services like support, information, and advocacy.

A diagnosis can empower people with autism and their whānau. Providing a framework for better self-awareness, unlocking a community of people they can relate to, and enabling them to advocate for accommodations in various areas of everyday life.

Spectrum Foundation helped fund free diagnostic sessions and a Kaiārahi (Cultural Navigator), making an autism diagnosis more accessible to families and individuals in Aotearoa.

As timely diagnosis is a fundamental human right, not a luxury.
